5 Galaxy S8 Problems and How To Fix Them
1. Bixby Button Isn’t Working
One of the best new features of the Galaxy S8/8+ is the Bixby Button, Samsung’s innovative new digital assistant. If you’re having issues with Bixby, the solution is easier than you think. Instead of pressing down on the button for a few seconds, simply tap the Bixby button quickly and it should launch every time.
2. Apps Are Not in Full Screen
Samsung’s Galaxy S8 features a high tech 18.5:9 aspect ratio, which heightens the already expansive display. However, this also means that many of your apps aren’t designed to fit in the screen, which is why developers are currently working to adapt apps to fit the larger displays of the latest smartphones. In the meantime, making your apps fit in the screen is an easy fix. Simply go to Settings, Display,

However, this also means that many of your apps aren’t designed to fit in the screen, which is why developers are currently working to adapt apps to fit the larger displays of the latest smartphones. In the meantime, making your apps fit in the screen is an easy fix. Simply go to Settings, Display, Full Screen Apps, and then switch on your apps to fit the new aspect ratio. Keep in mind that you won’t need to make the switch with Samsung’s apps because they’re already formatted for the S8 display. Google apps are also optimized for the screen ratio, but any apps you install after you unbox the phone will need to be switched individually.
3. Wet Speakers
One great thing about the Galaxy S8 and S8+ is its IP68 rating, which makes it dust and water-resistant. More specifically, it can be submerged in 5 feet of water for 30 minutes or more and come out unscathed. However, water can temporarily damage the speakers. If they sound funny after a watery encounter, let it air drying or tap out the excess water against your hand.
4. Facial Recognition
An up-and-coming innovation in smartphone security, the facial recognition scanner of the Galaxy S8/8+ has been receiving mixed reviews. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, and it can be tricked with a photo. If you’re having trouble with this new feature, Cory Gunther, tech expert at GottaBeMobile, recommends installing the “Smart Lock” feature, which uses trusted locations to determine whether the lock screen security measure is needed. He also recommends a second lock method, like a pin, to bypass the photo trick.
5. Fingerprint Scanner Position
Because of the new location of the fingerprint scanner, it might seem like you’re tapping the camera instead. While there isn’t a way to fix this design issue, it just takes some getting used to after setting up the fingerprint scanner, which increases security on your Smartphone. Many of our cases offer a sloped camera bevel, which makes it easier for your finger to find the scanner.
